Trust and security
Your data, protected
Scout works because CPG brands trust it with sensitive sales, distribution, and trade data. Here is exactly how that data is kept private, isolated, and under your control.
The short version
You upload sales, distribution, and promotion data from your retailers and syndicated providers. Scout encrypts it, scopes it to your organization so no other customer can reach it, and uses it to power your analytics and nothing else. You can get a copy of it or have it deleted whenever you want.
The rest of this page explains each of those guarantees, and where they come from, in plain language.
How we protect your data
Encrypted at every stage
Your data is encrypted at rest, in transit, and in use. That protects it while it sits in storage, while it moves across the network, and while it is being processed.
Isolated to your organization
Every record you upload is scoped to your organization and enforced at the database layer with row-level security. No other Scout customer can query, read, or export your data.
You control your data
The data you upload stays yours. Request a copy, correct it, or have it deleted when it is no longer needed. You decide what happens to it.
Anonymous product analytics
We improve Scout using anonymous, non-identifiable usage data. We do not ask for personal details inside the product, and you should not provide them.
Isolation is enforced, not assumed
This is the first question almost every brand asks: if Scout is a shared platform, can anyone else see my numbers? The answer is no, and the reason is structural.
Every record in Scout is scoped to the organization that owns it, and that scoping is enforced at the database layer with row-level security policies that run on every query. A user in one brand ’s workspace cannot address, join to, or read another brand ’s rows, even by mistake. Access is decided by the data itself, not left to application code to remember to check.
The practical effect: your competitors can be Scout customers too, and it makes no difference to the privacy of your data. Nobody outside your organization has a path to it.
Your rights over your data
The data you upload is yours. You have the right to:
- Request a copy of your data through a data subject access request.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your data when it is no longer required.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based solely on your consent.
- Request restrictions on processing if there is a dispute over accuracy or processing.
- Object to processing for marketing purposes.
These rights, and the full detail of what we collect and why, live in our Privacy Policy. Intercept Technologies, the company behind Scout, maintains a comprehensive data security policy and can share a copy on request.
